Dr. Ounsi el Daif is an academic and environmental civil society expert. A physicist who studied in France and Switzerland, earning his PhD in 2007 from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland), he was a researcher in the field of solar photovoltaic energy in world-class scientific labs (EPFL, Lyon Nanotechnology Institute in France, IMEC in Belgium, QEERI in Qatar) as well as a university lecturer until 2015. He has lectured at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and the American University of Beirut on solar energy and physics. He is the founder of Eedama, an environmental social enterprise based in Masdar City, UAE, that focuses on sustainable development education and training. 
He was part of the board of the Lebanese Association for Another Globalisation (Attac Lubnan) and one of its most active members in 2004. In 2006, he supported and contributed from afar to the founding of what became Lebanon Support. Upon coming back to Lebanon in 2017, he co-founded the Lebanese association for environmental and social justice JIBAL. He was elected as president of Lebanon Support in 2018.
