Bassem Chit Fellowship for the Study of Activism (En-Fr-Ar) (this cfa is closed)

The Bassem Chit fellowship for the study of activism is a one-year post doctoral fellowship based in Beirut, Lebanon. The fellowship is a joint initiative of Lebanon Support, the Arab Council for the Social Sciences, the Orient-Institut Beirut, and Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Beirut Office. The fellowship aims to give early career scholars (0-3 years out of the Phd) in  the social sciences the opportunity to conduct research on activism in the Arab world. The Bassem Chit fellowship accepts proposals in Arabic, English, or French.

What mobilises Lebanon? Focus on socio-economic demands

Protests have been ongoing in Lebanon since October 17 2019, in an unprecedented geographic spread, largely motivated by demands to access socio-economic rights, which are part and parcel of human rights. This infographic visualises these demands, shedding light on the role of civil society actors in mobilising on these issues throughout the years, and in creating and framing rights-based demands and discourses.

The Geo-located map of conflicts, part of the Conflict Analysis Project, developed by Lebanon Support, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) tracks incidents, mobilisations and conflicts between individuals/groups/communities happening across Lebanon. This visual provides an overview of the conflicts incidents mapped between 2015 and 2018 focusing on their primary and secondary classifications, locations, and categories.

Political economy of research in social sciences in the Arab world (En-Fr-Ar) (this cfp is closed)

Social sciences research – which we broadly define as any form of research that uses scientific approaches and tools in order to produce empirical-based knowledge about society - is a social activity that faces multiple constraints. Lebanon Support is seeking submissions for the issue titled: "Political economy of research in social sciences in the Arab world".
